The Penn State Basketball is close to completion. With the announcement that both Talor Battle and Nick Colella have been retained by Micah Shrewsberry, coupled with previous announcements of Mike Farrelly, Aki Collins, and Adam Fisher having joined the staff as assistants, only administrative roles are left to be filled by the new Nittany Lion coach.
Battle came on as an assistant last season under the previous coaching staff, and retaining the former guard was a “no brainer” for Coach Shrewsberry, citing Battle’s experience both as a player in the program and his time as a pro.
Colella had been around the program for eight seasons already, Shrewsberry noted that Colella was instrumental in his transition as the new basketball coach.
With three former Nittany Lions on staff, Shrewsberry’s strategy is becoming clear: Bring people who care about the program due to personal investment, while also showing that they have what’s required to succeed at this level.
Congrats to both Battle and Colella on their new positions!
