Midweek Musings - When Did You Become a Penn State Fan?

Let’s take a stroll down memory lane

For no apparent reason, I was waxing nostalgic the other day, and got to thinking about my younger days. The carefree nature of youth, especially in the fall, wherein my weekends consisted of soccer games, orange slices, Hi-C Ecto Coolers - and Penn State football.

This got me thinking, and it’s the question I’ll pose to all of you: when did you become a Penn State fan?

For me, I moved to PA when I was 7, and didn’t really care much about college football. I started following along in the newspaper about the local sports teams, and noticed that the Penn State football team was doing well.

I moved to PA in the summer of 1994.

Let’s just say that after that first season in Pennsylvania, I was hooked. I became a fan, only wanted to go to PSU through high school, applied and got the early acceptance letter the summer before my senior year, and chucked the other partially-filled out applications in the garbage.

What about you? What brought you into the blue and white fold?
