While Penn State fans are busy paying attention to the start of the NFL Draft tonight, it’s been a busy day on the hoops front, as well. Earlier today, freshman guard DJ Gordon announced he was entering the transfer portal via his Twitter:
I will be entering the transfer portal, Thank You Penn State #ShootaOut✌
— DJ Gordon (@Shooter_Deej14) April 29, 2021
In an interview with 247’s Dushawn London, DJ cited the ouster of Pat Chambers (whom he had initially committed to play for) as the reason for his transferring out of Happy Valley. Thus far, Western Kentucky and Georgia have reached out to him, but being as touted of a recruit as he was coming out of high school, he won’t be lacking in other big-time offers.
A few hours after DJ announced his departure, JUCO forward Jevonnie Scott announced his future arrival to Penn State. The 6’7” 240-pound forward originally from Toronto, just completed a highly productive season at South Plains College (TX), where he averaged over 11 points and five rebounds per game. He brings a very physical as well as athletic presence to the PSU front court, as you can see in the highlight video below, where he throws down some sick dunks.
Scott was initially committed to Texas A&M back in January but later decommitted. In an interview with the Centre Daily Times’ Jon Sauber, Scott cited his bond with Micah Shrewsberry as the reason for him ultimately committing to Penn State.
Best of luck to DJ, and welcome aboard, Jevonnie!
