Pat Freiermuth will be staying in the keystone state as the Pittsburgh Steelers made him the 55th selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Freiermuth quickly made fans forget about Mike Gesicki when he arrived on campus. The former Nittany Lion tight end holds the record for career touchdowns by a tight end, eclipsing the aforementioned Gesicki’s record set in 2017. Freiermuth would go on to finish tied for 20th all time in receptions.
Freiermuth did not complete the 2020 season due to injury, but his 23 receptions for 310 yards on the year was enough to still be named Big Ten Tight End of the Year by the conference, as well as being named to the First Team All-Big Ten by the coaches.
Good luck to Pat as he begins his professional career!
