HIGHLIGHTS

THE TALE

Despite the fact that Penn State hasn’t been able to unofficially or officially host prospects in over 14 months, Bachetta actually made a trip to Happy Valley during that time, visiting State College back in August 2020 for one of those “self-guided” tours. Apparently he liked what he saw, as the Nittany Lions became major players for the Atlanta product. Once the Nittany Lions offered this past April, it didn’t take long for Bacchetta to pull the trigger.

Bacchetta’s commitment gives Penn State’s No. 6 2022 recruiting class its 11th commit. And since you’ll hear this nugget probably 1,432 times the next six years: Did you know Bacchetta and Blake Gillikin went to the same high school? Oh yes, it’s true.

THE OUTLOOK

As I put in the “Skinny” blurb above, Bacchetta is a highly-touted prospect. He’s unranked on 247, but Kohl’s Kicking — a recruiting service just dedicated to kicking, punting, and snapping rankings — has him ranked as a five-star punter, giving him the No. 1 ranking overall in the 2022 class. Here’s a bit what Kohl has to say:

His frame and leg speed separates him from the rest of his peers. The ball jumps off his foot... Bacchetta’s “A” ball is better than anyone else in the 2022 class at this point.

So yeah, certainly fits the for what Penn State is looking for post Jordan Stout either in 2022 or 2023.
