Our countdown continues with redshirt freshman wide receiver Malick Meiga.
Born in the Ivory Coast before moving to Quebec, Canada, Meiga was a three-star member of the 2020 class who earned his Penn State offer after a dominant camp performance. After watching his film, it’s easy to see why he was so impressive on the hoof — Meiga stands 6-foot-4, 204 pounds, and can run a sub 4.5 forty.
While it shouldn’t have been a surprise that Meiga took a redshirt year in 2020 — you know, the whole Quebec-to-Big Ten is quite the jump — Meiga should begin to factor into the rotation this season and beyond. He has that unique skillset of being TALL and FAST, which as it turns out, is valuable in football. So even while he continues to iron the more finer details of the game, Meiga could have a role as a deep threat, a la Saeed Blacknall or Dan Chisena.
