Our countdown to the return of Penn State football continues with redshirt sophomore Sal Wormley.
A four-star prospect who chose the Nittany Lions over Notre Dame, Wormley spent his first season in Happy Valley like most offensive linemen; that is — after taking a few snaps against Idaho — redshirting. Wormley’s redshirt frosh season was more of the same, serving as a backup while seeing minimal snaps (to be exact: four) on the offensive line.
All of that was to be expected though, and it appears that Wormley is right on track to eventually push for a starting gig. He saw some time with the first team this spring, and while it would still be surprising to see him start in 2021, Wormley figures to factor in as a starter in 2022 and beyond.
