Only Olu Fashanu Until Penn State Football

74 days until Penn State football returns to our lives

Our countdown to the return of Penn State football is officially now under 75 days as we spotlight redshirt freshman offensive lineman, No. 74 Olu Fashanu.

A member of the Nittany Lions 2020 recruiting class, Fashanu committed to Penn State over 16 other reported scholarship offers including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Oregon. It’s safe to say his offer list didn’t exactly match that of a three-star prospect ranked outside the top 400.

That being said, Fashanu did not see any playing time in his true freshman season on campus last season and spent the entire season on the development squad. He impressed the coaching staff while on the development squad which included being named the Developmental Squad Offensive Player of the Week for his work for in the week ahead of the Nittany Lions showdown against Ohio State.

The 6-foot-6, 313-pound offensive tackle will likely play in a limited role in 2021, serving as a rotational piece when the situation allows. It will be a big year for him as he looks to take a step forward in his development and with a solid year, he could potentially push for starting time as early as 2022.
