Penn State To Host Miami In The Big Ten/ACC Challenge

The Nittany Lions will face the Hurricanes for the first time since 1995.

The Nittany Lions’ schedule just got a little bit clearer. Penn State will host Miami in the Big Ten/ACC challenge, marking this as the first meeting between the two schools since 1995, and the first as part of the event.

Miami didn’t have the best of seasons last year, finishing 10-17 overall, and are coming off their third consecutive losing season after having reached the NCAA tournament the previous three seasons. Yet, this is still an exciting opponent that breaks the monotony of the two or three opponents we normally see get paired up against the Nittany Lions in the challenge.

Dates for the games have not been announced yet, but if the past few years are any indication, they’ll happen in the first week of December. With the other games we already know, this is what the non-conference schedule looks like so far:

  • Youngstown State (Nov 10)
  • St. Francis (Nov 18)
  • LSU (Nov 26)
  • Oregon State/Wake Forest (Nov 27)
  • Miami (early Dec)
  • at Seton Hall (TBD)
  • at VCU (TBD)
  • at UMass (TBD)

That leaves three more slots to fill, and the way the schedule is shaping up, we’re not likely to see any more high profile announcements for those slots.

Update: Penn State will host Miami on Wednesday, December 1st.
