Onward we roll toward Penn State football season, with just 56 days until kick in Madison, Wisconsin.

Today we take a look at No. 56, defensive tackle Amin Vanover.

Vanover came to PSU as a three-star recruit in the class of 2019 out of St. Joseph’s Regional High School in New Jersey. He chose the Nittany Lions over a slew of offers from elite schools across the country.

He made the move from strong side defensive end in high school, where he played at 6-foot-4, 260 pounds, to defensive tackle in college where he’s listed at 276. Vanover’s frame should allow him to add another 10-15 pounds while still maintaining quickness, which should serve him well as a three-technique.

The New Jersey product played in two games as a true freshman, making three tackles and getting invaluable experience while retaining his freshman eligibility. He figures to be an even larger part of John Scott Jr.’s rotation and could well be a multiple-year starter down the line.
