Penn State Football will be back in less than 11 weeks. Let’s celebrate with a little get to know on the man who will be donning #54 for the Nittany Lions this fall - defensive tackle Derrick Tangelo.
Tangelo is one of the new faces to arrive in Happy Valley via the transfer portal. He spent the last four seasons at Duke, and is coming off a season with 38 tackles, two sacks, four TFLs an three forced fumbles. At 6-2, 310 lbs., Tangelo has the size to plug up the middle of the field while also making plays from the defensive tackle position. He figures to play heavily into the defensive line rotation in 2021, and will be competing for a starting role when camp opens up later this summer.
A tangelo is also a delicious fruit, as championed by Joe Hackett of Sandpiper Air.
Only 54 days until Penn State kicks off the 2021 season in Madison!
