Safety Drew Hartlaub came to Penn State as a walk on from South Western High School in Hanover, Pennsylvania, as a member of their 2017 recruiting class. During his time on campus Hartlaub has used his borderline elite speed and athleticism to become a key special teams contributor for the Nittany Lions.

Hartlaub was named the team’s Scout Team Special Teams Player of the Year in 2018. In 2019 Hartlaub played in 12 of Penn State’s 13 games, he then appeared in 8 of their 9 games played in 2020.

During his Nittany Lion career Hartlaub has recorded 11 tackles and has recovered a pair of fumbles. This fall Hartlaub will once again be a key special teams player for the Nittany Lions. The redshirt senior getting voted as a team captain for his special teams contributions is something that should not be ruled out.
