Penn State could be heading for another season opening loss, according to the folks in Vegas. Wisconsin has opened as a five-point favorite for the week one match-up with the Nittany Lions in Madison.
Both programs are coming off disappointing seasons, although the Badgers ended up on the right side of the win-loss column with a 4-3 record. After winning their first two games in blowout fashion over Illinois and Michigan, the Badgers would drop their next three to Northwestern, Indiana and Iowa. Games against Nebraska, Purdue and Minnesota were canceled due to COVID-19 outbreaks.
The season opener in Madison kicks off a difficult first half of the schedule for the Nittany Lions. Penn State will also play Ball State, which finished #23 in 2020 and returns 20 starters, a prime time match-up with Auburn in Beaver Stadium, a visit from Indiana, and road trips to Iowa and Ohio State.
The Penn State-Wisconsin clash is set to kick off at noon, Sat., Sept. 4 and will be aired on FOX as its season opener of “Big Noon Saturdays.”
