Penn State Opens the Season at No. 20 in Coaches Poll

Seems fair.

College football must be around the corner, folks, as the Coaches Poll came out with its inaugural ranking of the season. The Nittany Lions find themselves ranked at No. 20.

All-in-all, No. 20 seems like a fine spot for Penn State. I mean, a little disrespectful that they are putting a team that *went 4-0 last year this low, but it’s fine. It’s fine.

The top five is made up of the usual suspects: Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Georgia. Other Big Ten teams to make the list: Wisconsin (No. 14), Indiana (No. 17), and Iowa (No. 18). Northwestern just missed the Top 25, receiving 120 votes which is good enough for No. 27. Meanwhile, Michigan only received 30 votes, putting them in at No. 33.

As for Penn State’s out of conference opponents, while neither Auburn nor Ball State made the Top 25, both received votes: Auburn with 84 and Ball State with 5.
