TOP GROUPS

Four-star running back George Pettaway has released a top 4 that includes Penn State.

It is not a surprise to see the Nittany Lions in Pettaway’s top group. Following an official visit to Happy Valley in June Penn State appeared to be surging in Pettaway’s recruitment. Since then, however, Penn State has added a pair of blue chip running backs.

With two backs in the fold it is unclear if Pettaway is still a take for the Nittany Lions or not, especially with space in the 2022 class being tight. That said, Pettaway has game changing speed and with Kaytron Allen being an IMG Academy player that’s a recruitment you can never say is over until the ink is dry on the LOI. For a variety of reasons, odds are, Penn State will continue to recruit Pettaway until the end of his recruitment.

Elite in-state 2023 safety Rahmir Stewart also released a top group this past week. Stewart’s top group was a group of 12 with the Nittany Lions included. Being a 2023 prospect Stewart’s recruitment is still in its early stages, but early on his options are unlimited.

The Imhotep Charter product already holds offers from all of the big hitters in the FBS. Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Iowa State, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Texas A&M and USC make up his top 12.

247Sports ranks Stewart as 61st best player in the county for the 2023 cycle and the 4th best safety in the class. Stewart’s recruitment will be a war between the top programs in the country. With Penn State making a big push, and successfully, to get back into Philadelphia in the 2022 cycle, it can only help the Nittany Lions in their pursuit of Stewart.

CRYSTAL BALL PREDICTION FOR A FOUR-STAR PASS RUSHER

After losing defensive end Tyreese Fearbry last week Penn State is now back on the market looking for another pass rusher in their 2022 class. A player who started to surface on their radar in June is four-star Missouri native DJ Wesolak. Now it appears the Nittany Lions could be gaining steam in his recruitment.

Midwest recruiting expert Allen Trieu logged a 247Sports crystal ball prediction for Wesolak to the Nittany Lions this past week. Wesolak has yet to visit Penn State but plans to do so for a game this fall. While Penn State does not have much space left in their 2022 recruiting class Wesolak is a player to monitor the next few months.

TOP 100 WIDE RECEIVER VISITS

While Penn State’s 2022 recruiting class is already loaded at wide receiver they continue to pursue another receiver. We have previously discussed Darrius Clemons and Omari Evans as receivers to watch. Another receiver to watch is Andre Greene.

The four-star Virginia native is one of the top remaining un-committed receivers in the 2022 class, and he is coming off an unofficial visit to Penn State.

Greene is a top 100 prospect with many heavy hitters involved. Right now, Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame, Penn State and Texas A&M look to be among his top schools. While landing Greene will be a tall task for the Nittany Lions, they are not going down without a fight in his recruitment
