Ladies and gentlemen football season is finally upon us! While the Nittany Lions do not kick off for another 10 days, high school football season is starting to rev up across the county. With this, it is time to once again start our weekly look at Penn State commits in action here at Black Shoe Diaries.

For our first edition of commits in action for the 2021 season we will start with arguably the most important player in Penn State’s 2021 recruiting class - quarterback Drew Allar. Friday night Allar and the Medina (OH) Battling Bees picked up a 31-14 victory to kick off their 2021 season.

In the victory Allar threw for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The top-100 quarterback also added an additional 81 yards on the ground. The one thing that Penn State has lacked during the Franklin Era is an elite quarterback, but Allar appears to be that quarterback.

In the state of Florida, Four-star running back commit Kaytron Allen led a powerful IMG Academy rushing attack in a 35-14 victory over American Heritage High School. Allen ripped off a 50+ yard run in the victory, putting great vision and better than he is known for burst on display.

Allen anchored a potent IMG rushing attack that went for over 300 yards on the night. Allen finished with 227 yards on the ground and 3 touchdowns. The Nittany Lions are getting a good one in Allen.

As the weeks progress our look at Penn State commits in action will grow. Pennsylvania is set to kick off high school football this weekend and by next weekend most states will have their regular seasons underway.
