Only Joey Porter Jr. Until Penn State Football

9 more days stand between us and Penn State Football. We’re less than a week away!

NCAA Football: Ohio State at Penn State Matthew OHaren-USA TODAY Sports

We’re inching closer and closer to the season! Week 0 starts this weekend, and next, Penn State football will one more be on our screens!

Joey Porter Jr. was a four-star prospect out of high school, leading his steam to a Quad County Conference Class 6A title as a senior. Porter Jr. appeared in four games to preserve his redshirt eligibility in 2019. In 2020, Porter Jr. had a season productive enough to earn himself Third Team All-Big Ten honors, with one Freshman of the Week honor as well. He had 34 tackles (25 solo), a sack, and four pass deflections.

After crashing the party last season, Porter Jr. is expected to be one of the cornerstones* of the defense in 2021, improving on what most believe was quite the successful 2020 for the redshirt freshman at the time. With the experience returning in the secondary, Joey has an opportunity to help bring Penn State back to the kind of shutdown defense we’re used to seeing from the Nittany Lions.

Only nine more days!
