One of Penn State’s most recent consistent performers at defensive tackle, Kevin Givens came to Happy Valley from neighboring Altoona in 2015, and redshirted his first year on campus. In 2016, Givens started six of 14 games, notching 27 tackles, five sacks, and two fumble recoveries. He continued disrupting opposing offenses in 2017, with 24 tackles and 3.5 sacks, despite starting only four games. in 2018, Givens’ final collegiate season, he started 12 games and had 33 tackles, five sacks, and a pass breakup. The lineman was signed by the San Francisco 49ers in 2019, and has appeared in 14 total games, recording 17 tackles, one sack, and one pass breakup to this point in his young career. The Niners have made it clear that he is critical to their defensive line rotation and several players have praised his agility and work ethic, so hopefully he continues to see more playing time in 2021 and beyond.
Just 30 days until Penn State football!
