The #LawnBoyz begin to make their mark on this year’s countdown. Devyn Ford committed to the Nittany Lions in May of 2018 as a four-star running back, choosing Penn State over USC, Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and other top programs. The Virginia has spent his first few seasons in a loaded backfield, but was able to showcase his agility and quickness in both 2019 and 2020. In his true freshman season, Ford rushed for 107 yards, including a 81-yard touchdown, in the season opener against Idaho. The emergence of both Noah Cain and Journey Brown limited Ford’s carries the rest of the season, as he finished with 294 yards on 52 carries, good for an average of 5.6 yards per carry. In 2020, after Brown’s early retirement and an injury to Cain, Ford started five games, rushing for 274 yards on 61 carries, including touchdowns against Indiana, Nebraska, and Rutgers. Look for Ford to continue to see playing time in 2021, along with backfield mates Keyvone Lee and Caziah Holmes.
