Penn State has seen its share of poorly officiated games. Saturday’s crew may have topped them all. Intentional grounding? Punting on third down? This game had everything.
The worst call of the game may not even belong to the officials. That honor goes to Bryan Harsin and Mike Bobo, who, with the game on the line, called a goal line fade, a play that is losing popularity even at the highest level of play. For a team which features arguably the most talented running back duo in the nation, Auburn opted to put the game in the hands of a quarterback whose road game struggles have been extensively covered.
In the opposing pocket, Sean Clifford had maybe his best game to date. The difference between last year’s Clifford and this year’s Clifford is simple, Mike Yurcich is a genius.

It also helps to have one of the best wide receivers in the nation.
