Summer Book/Viewing Thread

Figured now was a good time to kick this off. Vacations are coming up, hockey and basketball are coming to an end, so we're going to need some entertainment alternatives.

Anything you've read or watched lately that you'd recommend? My reading has dropped drastically since I'm no longer commuting to work. My latest reads have been:

  • Into Thin Air - A very interesting perspective on climbing Mount Everest and how easily it can all go wrong.
  • Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency - A Douglas Adam's novel that's a fun read in the same spirit as Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy though more terrestrial.
  • A Woman of No Importance - A great read about the establishment and operation of spy rings in France during WWII and how they cultivated/supported the Resistance.
  • Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess - I've been trying to get back into chess and wanted to start back at the basics. Overall not that useful of a book as it focuses exclusively on back rank checkmates, so everything involved with getting to those positions is not part of the book. Good exercises which you can get through in a few hours, but not exactly helpful in learning to play chess.
As for viewing options, I present to you Thunderstruck by Steve'n'Seagulls.
