The Penn State Lady Lions have their second piece of the 2022-23 non-conference schedule figured out. Slated for Wednesday Nov. 30th, Penn State will face the Virginia Cavilers in the BJC for the annual ACC-Big Ten Challenge matchup. The Lions are 1-1 in the Challenge with Coach Kieger with a win over Pittsburgh and a loss at Boston College.
The Lady Lions are 3-4 with Virginia all-time and last played them March 12th, 1999 in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament. A win would tie the series overall. Virginia ended the 2021-22 season 14th in the conference (only ahead of Pitt) and a record of 5-22 | 2-16. Meanwhile PSU ended their season 12th in the conference with a record of 11-18 | 5-13. Their recent history suggests that this will be a game that leans in the Lions favor, slightly.
Currently, this is what we know about the Lady Lions Non-conference schedule:
- vs. Youngstown State (Nov. 14/15)
- vs. Virginia (Nov. 30th) ACC/Big Ten Challenge
- vs. Towson* (last year's return game of a home-and-home series was cancelled due to COVID, there is a possibility that the PSU game with Towson will be rescheduled to this season)
