Penn State crushed Lindenwood 9-3 in the first game of the Thanksgiving weekend series. The Nittany Lions controlled the game from start to finish, never trailing at any point. Jacques Bouquot led the way for Penn State with his first career hat trick.

Game Recap

After a slow start, Aiden Fink put the Nittany Lions on the board first, tapping in an easy rebound off a shot by Dylan Gratton. Fink has scored a goal in four straight games. Following back to back penalty kills, Penn State extended the lead to 2-0, with Ryan Kirwan finding the back of the net from the low slot. The Nittany Lions took a 2-0 lead and a whopping 27-10 shot advantage to the first intermission.

In the second period, Penn State blew the game wide open with two goals in 38 seconds from Reese Laubach and Ryan Kirwan. Lindenwood was able to answer on a power play goal from Jaeden Mercier, but Jacques Bouquot struck quickly on a Penn State power play on a centering pass that deflected off a skate into the back of the net. Adam Conquest pulled Lindenwood to within three with eight minutes remaining in the second. Freshman Matt DiMarsico extended Penn State’s lead to 6-2 on a great feed from Simon Mack, continuing the hot start for the “Kids Line” of Fink-Laubach-DiMarsico.

In the third period, Dane Dowiak and Jacques Bouquot each found the back of the net to give PSU an 8-2 lead with seven minutes to play. Jaeden Mercier scored his second goal for Lindenwood with three minutes remaining. Bouquot finished off a hat trick on a perfect one-timer with just 1:21 to play to give the Nittany Lions the 9-3 win.
