Height/Weight: 5-foot-10, 160 pounds
Hometown/High School: Canonsburg, PA (Pittsburgh, PA)
Notable Offers: Akron and Yale
Despite playing at Pittsburgh Central Catholic, Thomas has flown under the radar. The only reported offers he has are from Akron and Yale, while the recruiting services have yet to rank him. Despite that, Penn State obviously liked what it saw and moved on Thomas before any other big schools came calling.
With Thomas’ commitment, he becomes commitment No. 7 for the Nittany Lions in the 2025 class. He’s also the third prospect from the WPIAL, joining jumbo athlete Brady O’Hara and running back Tiqwai Hayes.
Based on the size and the fact that he’s also from Pittsburgh, Thomas will get the Daequan Hardy comparisons. Those aren’t completely wrong, as Thomas and Hardy do share some similar attributes. But I think there’s some growth potential with Thomas, given that his brother (who played at Yale) is a 6-foot-1, 196-pound safety for the Indianapolis Colts. Maybe Xxavier doesn’t reach *quite* that size, but I think Terry Smith and Co. believe that the younger Thomas has growth potential beyond being just a slot corner.
